Birthdays

Roland James (1897); 36 appearances, 1 goal

Half-back James signed for Brentford from West Bromwich Albion in the autumn of 1922. He made 21 appearances during his first season at Griffin Park, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win away at Newport County. That would be James’ only goal with Brentford as he left at the end of the following season, after 15 further appearances, to join Stockport County.

Ronald Peplow (1935); 66 appearances, 5 goals

Ronald Peplow joined Brentford in 1955 from Southall. He spent six years at Griffin Park and, while unable to hold down a regular place, he was a reliable squad member and played 66 games for the Club. His most successful year at Griffin Park was his final one, the 1960/61 season, when he played 18 games in all competitions and scored three of his five Brentford goals.
