Jack Clough (1897); 21 appearances, 0 goals

Goalkeeper Clough spent the 1933/34 season in West London, arriving from Bradford Park Avenue. He split duties with Tom Baker as we finished our maiden season in the Second Tier in fourth. At the end of the campaign, Clough, who earned a Military Medal during the Battle of the Somme, returned north to sign for Rotherham United.

Herbert Stevens (1909); 6 appearances, 1 goal

An outside forward, Stephens began his career at amateur club Ealing Association and joined us in February 1931. He made just six appearances, scoring one goal, before his departure at the end of the 1934/35 season. Stephens spent much of his time with the club in the reserve team, with whom he won two London Combination titles and the 1934/35 London Challenge Cup. After Brentford he joined Brighton and Hove Albion where he scored 86 goals in 180 league games, making him The Seagulls second highest goalscorer when he retired in 1948.

William Horn (1938); 1 appearance, 0 goals

Forward Horn spent seven months as an amateur at Griffin Park, joining from Kilmarnock in October 1958. Unable to displace The Terrible Twins, his only appearance came during a 3-1 defeat at Reading in late October. At the end of the season he returned to Kilmarnock ahead of spells in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Peter Beadle (1972); 1 appearance, 0 goals

A forward signed on a one-month deal by Wally Downes, Beadle (pictured above) has one of the shortest Brentford careers in history. The well-travelled striker made his debut on the opening day of the 2003/04 season but was sent off after 12 minutes away at Tranmere Rovers. His suspension and an ankle injury meant they were the only minutes he ever played for Brentford before joining Barnet the following month.
