Early goals from Christian Norgaard and Said Benrahma plus an injury-time Emiliano Marcondes penalty sent Sam safely though to the Last Eight with a 3-1 win. There he has been joined by Birmingham City, Fulham, Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Preston North End and Swansea City.

The biggest drama in the Last 16 was at The City Ground as Joe Lolley's Forest beat eight-man Mansfield Town 9-8 on penalties. That followed a 2-2 draw which saw four Forest goals chalked off for offside as well as three red card for The Stags.

Elsewhere, Fulham and Middlesbrough also saw off lower division opponents in the shape of Wycombe Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers.

Preston got the better of Blackburn Rovers in a Lancashire derby while Harlee Dean netted a hat-trick as Birmingham City overcame Luton Town 3-2. The other two all-Sky Bet Championship affairs saw Huddersfield Town win 2-1 at Bristol City with Swansea City securing a 1-0 victory at home to Wigan Athletic.

The Four Quarter-Finals will be held between Monday and Thursday next week with the two Semi-Finals on Saturday ahead of Sunday's showpiece final.
