Both teams were in action on Sunday with the First Team travelling to Islington Borough in a Greater London Women's Football League Division One match while the Development Team were away at Tooting Bec in the Quarter Final of the Sue Sharples Cup.
The Islington match went ahead on a very sticky pitch, not helped by a torrential downpour 30 minutes before kick-off and showers throughout the game. The hosts coped much better with the difficult conditions and it took some determined defending to stop Islington opening the scoring ealy on. Their pressure eventually told, however, as Sarah Cleary netted before the interval.
Despite the home side's dominance, Brentford had shown enough to suggest they could get back into the game and so it proved as Gemma Goodwin fired home a close-range equaliser midway through the second-half. Both sides had chances to win it late on but it finished all square as Karleigh Osborne's side picked up a good point against one of the division's promotion chasers.
The Development Team saw their run in the Sue Sharples Cup come to an end at the Quarter Final stage following a 4-1 defeat at Tooting Bec. Shannon Read passed up a great early chance to put The Bees in front and Will Blithing's side were then made to pay. A long-range effort and a well-worked goal put the hosts two-up. Jasmine Williamson pulled one back before the break but the home side netted twice more late on to ensure their progress.
Next Sunday, the First Team travel to fourth-placed Dulwich Hamlet Reserves while the Development Team are also on the road at Actonians Development.
