Earlier this season it was announced that Brentford FC and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust had teamed up with educational charity Digital Works to develop an oral history project. The project was designed to record and preserve the history of fans, players and staff of The Bees as the Club prepared to leave Griffin Park after 116 years and move to a brand-new stadium. We sought 16 volunteers to get involved in the project and play their part.

The volunteers began their work earlier in 2020. They received training and support to conduct oral history interviews and met some former players and staff from the Club and beyond, as well as interviewing supporters. They have been working with local archives in Chiswick as well as accessing the archives of the Club.

The interviews mostly took place in March and this meant that not all were completed, due to restrictions imposed on movement after the Covid-19 outbreak. The team are, however, releasing content from the project. The Club will share this on brentfordfc.com and more can be seen on the Push Up Brentford website here. The team have released 14 interviews that they have conducted and these can be seen here.

Those interviews have also been turned in to a podcast series. The fifth one, called Sidelines and Bylines, is out now. Fans can listen below or see more here.
