Brentford B have made their third signing of the summer with Wraynel Hercules joining on a one-year contract with a club option of a one-year extension following his departure from Barnet's Under-18s.
The 18-year-old has joined the young Bees after impressing with Barnet’s Under-18s in the South East Division of the Youth Alliance League. The youngster also spent time on loan during the 2019/20 season as he joined Chalfont St Peter in the Isthmian South Central Division towards the end of February.
Wraynel featured against the likes of Harlow Town and Staines, and actually found the net in a 3-2 win over Staines prior to the curtailment of the season due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Barnet’s Under-18s placed 10th in their division midway through the season in a campaign which saw them pick up wins over Peterborough, Luton Town and MK Dons earlier in the season, but results going into the new year would see them be placed into Merit League Two. The side were then only able to play two matches prior to the lockdown as the season was curtailed. Wraynel often provided a key outlet for the youth side with his pace and physical presence proving a real handful for opponents.
At Barnet, Wraynel worked under former Brentford Academy Coach Dan Senda within the under-18 setup, before he went on to work with the Barnet first team before joining Leyton Orient as Assistant Head Coach.
Discussing Wraynel’s arrival, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane says he is delighted to have secured the youngster’s services. He said: “Wraynel has an excellent physical presence for someone who is just 18-years-old. He is an extremely quick winger and we feel there is lots that we can add to his game. His main attribute is speed and he’s been able to chip in with both assists and goals during his time with Barnet.
“We feel we can add to his game out of possession and help him tactically, and if we can do that, then he will become a valuable member of the team. He’s an exciting prospect who’s coming from non-league and I think with the training day in, day out, and with us pushing Wraynel to his limits we can really help him.”
