THE OPPOSITION
All the news surrounding this fixture has been about Wigan Athletic's shock entry into administration on Wednesday rather than The Latics incredible recent form which had seen them rocket away from the relegation places.
Paul Cook's side have taken the most Championship points of anyone in 2020 (30) and haven't conceded a goal in their last 674 minutes of football. They've come back following the restart and strung together successive wins over Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers, and Stoke City as part of a nine-game unbeaten run.
Tuesday's success over The Terriers had left them 14th, eight points above the drop zone, but less than 24 hours later their season took a dramatic twist as they were placed into administration. With a 12 point deduction looking likely to be applied, Athletic are now bottom of the virtual table, five points from safety with six to play.
On the pitch, Cook's men have struggled in front of goal until recent weeks, a quarter of their 45 goals coming in their last six matches, and only Middlesbrough have scored fewer this term. However, they have the ninth best defence in the division, with their 3-0 defeat to Brentford in November one of just four occasions they've conceded more than twice this term.
THE MANAGER
Paul Cook brought The Latics back to the Championship at the first time of asking in 2018, exactly a year after he led Portsmouth to the League Two title. Before that, Cook held the reins of Chesterfield when he also got them out of the fourth tier.
Cook featured as a central midfielder during a playing career that spanned 23 years, notably in the Premier League for Coventry City. He also played in the Football League for Wigan Athletic, Norwich City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tranmere Rovers, Stockport County and Burnley, ending his career with nearly 650 league appearances.
TEAM NEWS
Mathias Jensen didn't feature against Reading last time out but he is Thomas Frank's only injury concern ahead of tomorrow's game.
Wigan lost Michael Jacobs to injury on Tuesday night but his replacement Kai Naismith came off the bench to net twice against The Terriers. He is expected to start in an otherwise unchanged line-up.
