THE OPPOSITION

Until their recent stumble, which has seen them lose three of their last four in the Sky Bet Championship, Huddersfield Town looked to be leaving their early season relegation troubles behind them under the Cowley brothers.

A disastrous start to the campaign, first under Jan Siewert and then interim boss Mark Hudson, saw The Terriers take just a solitary point from their opening eight league matches. Things began to improve in late September with a run of seven unbeaten which culminated in their 1-0 victory at Griffin Park.

At that stage, Town sat 18th, four points outside the drop zone but they haven't been able to break clear of the relegation battle since then. Aside from a spell of ten points from five games over Christmas, The Cowleys have overseen just two points from the other seven, losing to relegation rivals Stoke City and Barnsley in their last two league outings.

Huddersfield's home form has stood up to scrutiny with only Stoke and Leeds United coming away from The John Smith's Stadium with all three points since September.

THE MANAGER

Danny Cowley took his first managerial role with Concord Rangers aged 29, after a non-league playing career was cut short by injury. His seven years in charge saw three promotions, from the Essex Senior League to the National League South, and a visit to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup.

In the summer of 2015, Cowley and his brother Nicky, who had been his assistant at The Beach Boys, joined Braintree Town, leading them to the National League Play-Offs 12 months later. The pair were on the move again that summer, this time to Lincoln City. It was at Sincil Bank that they began to hit the national conscience.

Their first season in charge ended with promotion back into the EFL and a run to the Quarter-Final of the FA Cup, becoming the first non-league side to reach the last eight in more than a century. The following campaign, Lincoln won the EFL Trophy at Wembley, as well as reaching the Play-Offs, before earning promotion to League One as Champions last term.

When he departed, Danny had a 53 per cent win record as Lincoln boss, the best in The Imps 127-year history.

TEAM NEWS

Long-term absentees Sergi Canos and Nikos Karelis, both knee, are out for tomorrow's game, as is Marcus Forss who returned from his loan spell with AFC Wimbledon due to a hamstring injury.

For Huddersfield, Richard Stearman, Emile Smith-Rowe, and Andy King could all make their debuts after arriving this week. Defender Tommy Elphick (knee), midfielder Alex Pritchard (knee) and forward Collin Quaner (hip) will all be assessed after missing last week’s defeat at Barnsley. Midfielder Jonathan Hogg misses out again as he will serve the final game of his two-match ban while Terence Kongolo joined Fulham on loan on Thursday.
