In partnership with the FA, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has launched a new Wildcats girls’ football session at Uxbridge High School Indoor Dome on Wednesdays. Held at the Trust’s state-of-the-art sports facility, the free programme offers organised football sessions in a fun and engaging environment – exclusively for girls aged 6-16. The sessions are held every Wednesday 5:30-7pm. Book your place here.

Olywn, whose seven-year-old daughter Tasana has been part of our girls’ football session for two years, credits the FA-backed programme with igniting her daughter’s passion for football. She said: “She really enjoys the sessions and it’s a fantastic way to make new friends – it’s the perfect introduction to playing football.”

Olywn also believes playing football serves an important purpose. She added: “I think it is important that girls play football and it helps build their confidence and self-esteem – it also has the additional benefit of keeping her active and healthy.”

The initiative is in line with The FA’s Gameplan for Growth, with the target of doubling girls’ participation in the sport by 2020. The strategy for women’s and girls’ football at grassroots level includes initiatives alongside SSE Wildcats, such as FA Girls’ Football Week and our Premier League Kicks programme.

Amber Lloyd, lead female football coach at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, said: “Wildcats is a great way to get girls involved in the game. As we offer this as a free session, the girls can see if they enjoy the sport with no additional cost. It’s a great way to make friends and have fun.”
