The new decade has started with a bang for Brentford with three wins from three in all competitions, eight goals scored and only one conceded. And The Bees will be hoping the 2020s go as well as the 2010s did. As in that decade, The Bees were top of the table.

As part of their review of the decade, FourFourTwo magazine looked at every EFL result across the past ten years. They worked out that Brentford won 713 points in 461 games from 1 January 2010 until 29 December 2019. No team earned more points.

The Bees finished 18 points clear of any other team across the decade with Sheffied United in second. Derby County were next, followed by Swindon Town with Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United in joint-fifth. The two Yorkshire sides were, however, more than 50 points behind The Bees across the decade.

When points per game was factored, it was Newcastle United that topped the table. They were the only side to average more than two points a game across the 2010s, albeit they only spent a season-and-a-half in the EFL over the decade. Brentford ranked joint 16th out of 97 in that table with most teams above playing at least 100 games fewer. The full article can be seen here.
