The 3-1 defeat saw The Bees struggle create enough clear-cut chances to get back into the match against the French side and the full back believes the performance was one that the side will look to improve on.

He explained: “It’s disappointing, as a team we know we can be a lot better than that and we’ve proved that all season. We have to pick ourselves up, keep going, and look forward to Portugal. We need to learn from the mistakes int his game and go again.

“As a team we let ourselves down and we know we’re a lot better than that.”

The 20-year-old also felt that Bordeaux proved more clinical in front of goal which was disappointing from The Bees’ point of view.

He continued: “You can always say ifs buts and maybes but at the end of the day it didn’t go in and we had chances. They were more clinical than us with their chances.

“There is individual stuff but as a team we need to be better and you can’t just point to individual mistakes. You have to react a lot better as a group.”
