Match Report and Match Action: Brentford B 1 PC39 Academy 2

Young Bees beaten in friendly

17 February 2020

Brentford B slipped to a 2-1 defeat in a behind closed doors friendly with PC39 Academy.

Despite going ahead through Aaron Pressley’s first goal for the club, the away side levelled before striking late to claim the winner.

PC39 Academy had the first chance of the match inside two minutes when a dangerous corner came into the box before the striker stooped to head just wide of goal.

But as the first half hour wore on the young Bees began to gain more of a foothold in the game as Matej Majka crossed low for Joe Adams to hit over before Arthur Read’s free kick was well saved.

Adams would have another attempt when he was played through down the left-hand side before, he miscued to send his effort wide of goal soon after.

On 35 minutes another dangerous ball came into the box from the away side and it caused a real scramble before Kane O’Connor managed to the hook the ball out of harms away.

The young Bees started the second half in better form with Pressley linking well with Christian Tue Jensen and Majka.

The second period was just seven minutes old when Brentford managed to get themselves in front as the right back on trial with The Bees managed to drive well down the right before slotting an excellent ball across the face of goal for Pressley to run on to and finish first time.

It almost got better for Brentford when pressure on the opposition keeper saw Read dispossess the shot stopper on the edge of the box before he tried to lift the ball over him, but for a clearance off the line.

With 20 minutes to go The Bees would rue their missed chances when the away side levelled after a ball broke to the right-hand side before the Academy winger shot powerfully past Andersson.

Another chance would fall for Brentford, but substitute Fredrik Hammar was unable to get a clean shot away before Pressley would have a header go just over. Then, with just two minutes to go, Aubrel Koutsimouka blocked a long shot from distance before it fell into the path of an Academy player who struck powerfully into the right of the goal to win the match 2-1.
