The young Bees, who have taken on the likes of Wingate & Finchley and Chelsea Under-23s in recent weeks, make the trip with the match scheduled to be played at Red Bull Salzburg’s training ground.

FC Liefering were founded in 1947 and have an interesting setup in that they play competitively, but also have a close relationship with Austrian giants, Red Bull Salzburg. The club play in Austria’s second division and currently sit 10th in the table having taken 20 points from their first 16 matches of the campaign.

The ethos of the club is heavily focused on the promotion of youth players with the average age of the squad often around 20 years, and a number of players have transferred between Liefering and Red Bull Salzburg in recent months with the likes of Gideon Mensah, Sebou Koita and Karim Adeyami all taking the step up whilst several players have left Red Bull Salzburg for loan time with Liefering this season.

The side are coached by the Dane, Bo Svensson, who had a playing career which began with FC Copenhagen before he went on to spend time with Borussia Monchengladbach and then Mainz 05.

As usual with clubs across the continent, FC Liefering have been on a winter break and played their last competitive match against Blau Weiss Linz on 1 December in which the side claimed a 5-1 win. Their season is set to kickstart again on 21 February when they travel to take on SKU Amstetten.

The young Bees will be looking to take some momentum into the match following a 2-0 win over Chelsea Under-23s in a behind closed doors friendly earlier in the week.

Discussing the match in Austria, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane is expecting nothing less than a difficult encounter that will serve his players well in their development.

He explained: “The games come thick and fast and this will be a very difficult game against a team who have done really well at youth level in particular, and they have some very good young players. We will regroup, get back on the training pitch, and make sure that we’re prepared properly.”

The match will see the club take on two games in one day with the first team set for Griffin Park action against Middlesbrough. The club will be providing live updates of the fixture on Saturday morning and the game is currently scheduled to be live streamed on the club’s YouTube channel with the match going live around 10 minutes before kick-off.
