Reece Cole and Partick Thistle fell at the penultimate hurdle in the Scottish Challenge Cup following a 2-1 defeat at home to Raith Rovers on Friday night.
Reece started their Semi-Final at Firhill as Kyle Benidictus gave the visitors the advantage on the half-hour. Regan Hendry made it 2-0 with a quarter of an hour to play and, despite a late Lewis Mansell strike for the hosts, Raith held on to go through to the final. Partick return to the Scottish Championship relegation battle next Saturday with a home game against mid-table Dunfermline.
In Sky Bet League One, Mads Bech Sorensen played the full 90 minutes as AFC Wimbledon snatched a last-minute point away at table-toppers Rotherham United. Max Sanders fired AFC ahead on the half-hour but a pair of strikes after the break from Matt Crooks and Freddie Ladapo looked to have ensured it would be a fruitless journey down the M1 for the travelling Dons fans. However, Kwesi Appiah netted a stoppage-time penalty to leave AFC seven points clear of the relegation zone. AFC travel to Oxford United on Tuesday night.
It'll now be three weeks without a game for Boreham Wood after their National League fixture at Aldershot Town fell victim to Storm Dennis on Saturday. The Wood's next scheduled game is at home to Yeovil Town on Saturday.
