Jan Žambůrek and Gustav Mogensen earn international caps in recent weeks

Young pair spend time away with nations this February

27 February 2020

The past ten days have seen Jan Žambůrek and Gustav Mogensen head to Spain with their respective nations for friendlies ahead of next month's Under-19 European Championship Elite Qualifying Round.

Jan Žambůrek and the Czech Republic drew one and lost one to their Scottish counterparts with Jan featuring from the start in both games. Filip Firbacher cancelled out Ethan Ross' opener as the two sides drew 1-1 last Tuesday while the meeting a week ago was settled by a single Kai Kennedy effort.

Those two outings were Jan's eighth and ninth at Under-19 level to add to 36 appearances at younger age groups. The Czechs face Holland, Switzerland, and Finland next month with only the group winners heading through to July's finals in Northern Ireland.

Gustav Mogensen was on target yesterday as Denmark drew 1-1 with Spain. The game was just three minutes old when Gustav took advantage of a defensive error to net his third goal in ten Under-19 appearances. However, Spain recovered to equalise through Atletico Madrid B striker Sergio Camello midway through the first-half.

Next month will see Denmark welcome England, Ukraine, and Latvia to Silkeborg for their Elite Qualifying Round fixtures.
