The Development Squad suffered only their second defeat of the season to Camden Town on Sunday, losing 3-2 away from home in the WFL Division 2 North.

Head Coach Will Blithing made just one change from the side that beat Forest Crusaders 9-3 last weekend, Nadia Jaffa dropping to the bench for Ruby Sumpter.

An early goal from the bees was ruled out for offside, a great chance to go ahead but the flag went up. Camden then opened the scoring half-way through the first half. A long ball caught the Bees out, Camden squared the ball across the box to Hannah Gough for an easy tap in.

Town then doubled their lead making it 2-0, a ball over the defence which was slotted home by Camden striker Hannah Dalgleish.

At the break, the home side looked comfortable but that changed in the second half. Brentford restarted the game looking strong and were getting closer to a goal.

A Pia Williams header was cleared off the line after a Shannon Read corner. Then, against the run of play, Camden added a third. A corner came in, a half clearance wasn’t dealt with and the ball was smashed home by Dalgleish for her second of the game.

Jasmine Williamson nearly got Brentford back in the game when she hit the crossbar with a header from close range. They were back in the game a few minutes later as substitute Chloe Kaur Boparai scored a close-range goal. She followed up a Read shot that was parried by the keeper.

Read doubled the tally with a shot outside the box, which crept beneath the keeper and gave the team a lifeline. It also took her tally to 21 for the season in all competitions.

The bees tried to find an equaliser but just ran out of time and dropped to second place in the Division 2 North table.
