As in recent years, Brentford FC have supported The Royal British Legion and the Armed Forces community and raised more than £6,000. All players wore shirts bearing the poppy as a symbol of remembrance and hope when we faced Middlesbrough on Saturday 7 November. These shirts have been signed by the players and were listed on matchwornshirt.co.uk/club/brentford. The auctions ended at the end of November and the final total was £6,763.

Those that won now own the ultimate piece of fan memorabilia, a match worn, player signed, poppy embroidered shirt. Winning bids came from all over the world and Marcus Forss' shirt was the most popular, selling for £491. All proceeds go to The Royal British Legion to improve the circumstances for some of the most vulnerable but deserving individuals within our communities.

The Royal British Legion is the country’s largest Armed Forces charity. It is the Legion’s aim to provide lifelong support for those who have been affected - both physically and mentally - as a result of their service. The Legion provides essential support to individuals and families in need, yet they are entirely dependent on the support from the public. This is where your contributions can really make a difference. You can find out more information on The Legion’s great work at britishlegion.org.uk/about-us/who-we-are.

A total of 18 shirts were sold and winners came from Kuwait, Finland, Denmark and Canada, the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland as well as more locally. Ivan Toney's shirt sold for £486 while the one worn by Henrik Dalsgaard, captain on the day, went for £446. Six shirts sold for more than £400 with every one raising more than £200 for charity.
