After a short break to make Carabao Cup history last night, Brentford return to Sky Bet Championship action on Boxing Day. The Bees reached the Carabao Cup Semi-Final with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United last night. Josh Dasilva scored the only goal in Brentford's first ever Quarter Final in the competition and they are now in the last four of a major cup for the first time ever.

The Carabao Cup will resume at the start of 2021 and The Bees have three more Championship games before that. The first of those is a trip to Cardiff City. The game will be played on Boxing Day, Saturday 26 December, and will kick-off at 3pm.

Brentford go in to the game on the back of two league wins in their last three games. The Bees beat Reading last Saturday and also have a recent win over Nottingham Forest and draw at Watford under their belts. Brentford sit fourth in the Championshop at Christmas and have won four of their last six away from home.

Cardiff are currently six places and six points behind The Bees and have lost two of their last three after a decent run. The Welsh side, like Brentford, lost in the Play-Offs last season. Cardiff were beaten by Fulham over two legs in the Semi-Final and The Bees lost to the same opponents at Wembley a few days later.

Cardiff made a slow start to the season and won only three of their first 13 games. A run of five wins in six followed but they have lost to Norwich City and Swansea City in recent weeks and sit a little adrift of the top teams. They have won four of ten at home and have been beaten four times on their own turf.

Wales is currently under strict Covid-19 regulations so Saturday's match will, unfortunately, be behind closed doors. It will, however, be available live on iFollow Brentford. As per the EFL communication on the broadcast arrangements for the new season, all of a team's games not selected for live coverage by Sky Sports will only be available on that platform. The announcement here also confirms that a team's away matches can only be purchased on a game-by game basis. Fans that want to watch will need to sign up for iFollow and pay £10 to tune in (£7 for international fans). Buy your Match Pass and watch the game as we take on The Bluebirds.
