The young Bees raced ahead in the first half to make it 2-0 through Alex Gilbert and one of the Trialists, before the away side were reduced to 10-men before the break. Wraynel Hercules notched his first for the young Bees in the second period before Joe Adams grabbed the fourth with an impressive effort.

Huddersfield pounced on a moment of miscommunication late on to get themselves on the scoresheet, but Brentford B were well worthy winners as they made it five wins from five.

The notable name on the teamsheet came in the form of Christian Nørgaard, who got 45 minutes under his belt as he stepped up his return from injury. There was also a place for Jaakko Oksanen with the young Fin also recovering from a knock, and he got his first minutes before he heads back to AFC Wimbledon on loan to help the side in Sky Bet League One.

Brentford B started with attacking intent and shocked their opponents with their aggressive pressing play. Huddersfield were given a warning just four minutes in when a Gilbert free-kick, coupled with the wind, caused havoc and it fell kindly for Hercules to hit first time but he could only find the post.

Two minutes later The Bees would have the lead when Gilbert received the ball centrally from distance and opened his body up before firing an excellent low effort into the bottom right-hand corner.

Hercules would then have another effort well saved by the Town keeper before the away side had a good opportunity themselves. Brahima Diarra found himself in a good position before he darted down the right, and despite playing a clever ball into the box, Valgeir Valgeirsson was on hand to turn the ball away to safety.

The 20-minute mark would see the young Bees extend their advantage when a corner into the box was attacked by a number of bodies, Nørgaard throwing himself at it, but it then fell kindly for the Brentford Trialist to turn home from close range.

A header from Nørgaard following another corner would precede a further attempt from Hercules which forced an important block from the Huddersfield back line before the game took a further turn for the worst for Town.

With Joe Adams in on goal, Mustapha Olagunju pulled the youngster back by the shoulder, and as he was the last defender, the referee was left with little option but to give the Huddersfield man a straight red card. Gilbert would then go close with the resulting free-kick, but his swirling effort was just over the crossbar as the sides went into half-time at 2-0 to the hosts.

Brentford B picked up exactly where they left off in the first half, with the introduction of Oksanen for Nørgaard, and they made it 3-0 through Hercules almost straight away. The 18-year-old got his first goal for the side when a good run on the right saw the ball played nicely into his path before he rifled an effort high into the goal from just inside the box.

Relentless play almost saw Tristan Crama replicate Hercules as he searched for his first Brentford goal, but his header following a corner fell just the wrong side of the Town post as The Bees searched for more. The fourth did come, though, on 56 minutes through Adams as more good play on the left-hand side saw the ball fall to the Brentford man who turned and fired a left footed effort into the top left corner from just outside the box.

Town kept battling, though, and though they rarely threatened going forwards having reverted to trying to stay solid for the rest of the half, the Bees controlled much of the possession. More good interplay from the reliable Oksanen alongside Adams almost saw the Fin find the net on his return when they played a neat one-two before Oksanen’s attempt was well blocked in the area.

Huddersfield got their goal seven minutes from time when miscommunication between Ellery Balcombe and one of the Trialists allowed substitute Sam Ompreon to nip in and round the Brentford keeper before slotting home, as the match finished 4-1 to the young Bees who will now have a short break over Christmas before their return to action in January 2021.
