Brentford’s Finland international striker Marcus Forss has signed a new long-term contract. The 21-year-old has committed his future to The Bees just weeks after making his international debut. He signed the new contract, which will run until the summer of 2026, earlier this week before starting for The Bees against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup Quarter Final.

That was Marcus’ 20th appearance for The Bees this season and he has scored seven goals. Two of them came in Brentford’s Carabao Cup run and he has notched five times in the Sky Bet Championship, playing either as centre forward or on the left of a front three. Marcus also made his international debut in November, scoring on his first appearance for his country as Finland beat France.

Brentford FC Head Coach, Thomas Frank, said: “I am very pleased that we managed to sign a long-term contract with Marcus. He is a very talented striker who has added extra levels to his game in the last year. He can link up play, is good at arriving in the box, and has made big strides in terms of leading our press.

"He is also one of the best finishers I have seen. He has a bright future ahead of him. I must praise Neil MacFarlane and the Brentford B staff for creating another player for the First Team, one who has not only being playing regularly, but now has this long-term contract with us.”

Marcus striker joined Brentford B from West Brom in the summer of 2017 and broke all scoring records during his first season for our B Team. He was moved to the First Team group in the summer of 2018 and scored on his professional debut in an EFL Cup tie against Southend United in the August of that year. He ended his first campaign at that level with his first Sky Bet Championship goal, against Preston North End on the final day for the 2018/19 season.

Marcus spent much of last season on loan at AFC Wimbledon before his time at the League One club was ended by injury. He hit the ground running at Kingsmeadow, netting seven goals in his first six games including a first career hat-trick against Southend United. Marcus was named the EFL Young Player of the Month for October and hit a further four goals in December before injury. He scored 11 goals in 17 league appearances for The Dons last term.

The striker has been involved in the matchday squad for all but one of Brentford’s games this season. He scored in Brentford’s first win of the Championship season, against Huddersfield, and also got crucial goals in the Carabao Cup against West Brom and Fulham. Marcus has played 32 games for The Bees in all competitions and scored ten goals. He made his full international debut earlier this season and has won three caps for his country, scoring once. That added to 11 goals in 21 international matches across the age groups at youth international level.
