Patrik Gunnarsson played his last match for Viborg FF as he helped the side to a 1-0 win over FC Helsingør.
The Danish First Division side are still top of the league as they got back to winning ways following two successive draws, and Patrik once again played the full 90 minutes to help the side keep their spot at the summit with the match the last game before the goalkeeper's half-season loan comes to an end.
The youngster will have benefited from valuable experience in Denmark and will be looking to kick on with his development during the remainder of the 2020/21 season.
Halil Dervişoğlu was an injury-time substitute for FC Twente as they got back to winning ways on the road against VVV-Venlo. They took the lead through Danilo Pereira da Silva before Luka Ilic netted the second just after the hour mark for Twente. The hosts pulled a goal back shortly after, but the side hung on to take the three points as they now sit sixth in the Eredivisie.
Joel Valencia was a 61st minutes substitute for Legia Warsaw as they fell to their first defeat in 10 games against Stal Mielic. The side fell behind after five minutes, but rallied to go 2-1 ahead on 24 minutes. Stal Mielic levelled just before the break before Grzegorz Tomasiewicz grabbed the winner on the hour mark. Legia are still top of the Ekstraklasa by one point, and they don’t return to league action until the end of January.
In Turkey, Kasımpaşa S.K. lost 2-0 away at Yeni Malatyaspor with Julian Jeanvier still missing for the side through injury as they sit 10th in the league.
On English soil, there hasn’t been any game time for our players over the weekend with Saïd Benrahma and his West Ham teammates not in action until this evening when they travel to Chelsea in a London derby. The Hammers are currently 10th and will be looking to add pressure to the top six with a win.
In the Football League none of our players were involved at the weekend with games postponed for Shrewsbury (Jan Žambůrek) and Stevenage (Arthur Read) for reasons concerning Covid-19.
Luka Racic wasn’t involved for Northampton Town as they were beaten 4-0 at home to Lincoln City in Sky Bet League One, whilst AFC Wimbledon also tasted defeat at home to Crewe Alexandra in injury time. Jaakko Oksanen missed the game for The Dons but stepped up his recovery from injury as he featured for Brentford B at Jersey Road, playing the second 45 minutes in the side’s 4-1 win.
