Opening competitive fixture at new stadium chosen for TV coverage

Carabao Cup tie selected by Sky Sports

21 August 2020

The first competitive game at our new home will be broadcast live on Sky Sports with Wycombe Wanderers the visitors for a First Round Carabao Cup tie. The match will take place on Sunday 6 September, kick-off 12 noon.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side are gearing up for a first ever season in the second tier following their 2-1 Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final victory over Oxford United in June.

Both sides exited the competition on penalties at the First Round stage last season following 1-1 draws, The Bees to Cambridge United while Wycombe went out to Reading.

The two sides have never met in the EFL Cup and we last hosted The Chairboys back in January 2012; Gary Alexander netting a hat-trick in a 5-2 victory.

Further match details will be announced ahead of the fixture.

At this moment in time, government advice states that the earliest that fans could return to football stadia is 1 October. Click here for our latest Ticket update
