As football made its return following the lockdown period, the First Team continued their preparations with a friendly match with Portsmouth at Griffin Park in late June. Brentford B goalkeeper Nathan Shepperd was involved in the fixture but was dealt an unfortunate blow as he suffered a significant injury.
Nathan suffered damage to his kidney and spleen whilst coming to punch a cross and was taken to hospital immediately. Thankfully, we're delighted to say that Nathan is recovering well at home back in Wales and will be hoping to return to the squad at Jersey Road in the coming weeks and months. We spoke to him to discuss the injury and his road to recovery.
