Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has been named in France’s Under-21 squad for two upcoming games. France will be playing Georgia and Azerbaijan over the next ten days as they continue qualification for the next UEFA European Under-21 Championships. Both games are away from home and France will travel to Georgia next Friday, 4 September, before heading to Azerbaijan on Monday 7 September.

Bryan is part of a 23-man squad for the two games. He is one of five attackers named in the group for the two matches. Due to the call-up he will be unavailable for Brentford’s Carabao Cup game against Wycombe Wanderers on 6 September but will be back with The Bees before the Sky Bet Championship season kicks-off. The Bees head to Birmingham City for that opening fixture on Saturday 12 September.

France are attempting to qualify for the 2021 European Under-21 Championships. The tournament will be played in Hungary and Slovenia next year and will be split across March, for the group stage, and then May and June for the final stages. France have won three of their first four qualifying games and are second in Qualifying Group Two with six matches to play.

Bryan has earned himself four France Under-21 caps to add to three at Under-20 level and one for the Under-17 side. He scored in a friendly win over Czech Republic last autumn. Bryan is starting his second season as a Brentford player after joining from Espérance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne. He played 47 games in all competitions last season and scored 16 goals.
