Following Sunday's 3-2 defeat to Southampton, David Raya took on Lincoln City midfielder Tom Pett this evening knowing only a win would keep our fate in our own hands.

Both goalkeepers made important early interventions, David saving low to prevent Tyreece John-Jules converting Anthony Scully's cutback while at the other end Josh Dasilva couldn't beat namesake Josh Vickers with a curling effort.

We almost took the lead on the stroke of half-time but Michael Bostwick got over to block Ollie Watkins' angled effort.

A strong start to the second-half was rewarded seven minutes after the break as substitute Joel Valencia started and finished a sweeping move. Jorge Grant thrashed an effort wide before Vickers made what proved to be a game-changing save to deny Bryan Mbeumo at close range.

That was in the 62nd minute and three minutes later The Imps were level; John-Jules showing good feet in the box and then firing home. The turnaround was complete with 12 minutes to play; Raya made a fine save to deny Scully but the ball rebounded to Tom Hooper who slotted home.

Defeat means that we need Southampton to beat Crawley Town later tonight. We then need to win our final Group game against Town coupled with a Saints victory over The Imps.
