Canadian forward Thompson arrived at Brentford in February 1998 on a non-contract basis. He managed just eight scoreless appearances for Mickey Adams' relegation-bound Bees before the end of the campaign. He was released by Ron Noades that October without making any further outings and played in Canada, Scotland, and England before retiring in 2009.

The left-sided player featured 38 times in total as we suffered relegation to League Two. Tillen added just two more appearances under Terry Butcher before leaving by mutual consent in January 2008. After Brentford, Tillen enjoyed a successful career in Iceland, winning a league title and Super Cup with FH.
