A look back at this day in Brentford history

14 April 2020

Notable Matches

Brentford 4 Derby County 0 – Sky Bet Championship, 2017

Fulham 1 Brentford 1 – Sky Bet Championship, 2018

Birthdays

Walter Spratt (1889); 123 appearances, 1 goal

Spratt enjoyed two spells in TW8, playing in both the Southern League and Football League. An initial four-year stay between 1911 and 1915 saw the full back make more than 100 appearances before he was released, along with all our other professional players, as the War took its toll on competitive football. He returned to Griffin Park in 1920 for our first season in the Third Division South but played just four games before departing at the end of the season. While working as a despatcher for Mosers, Spratt was one of 35 people killed in a V-2 rocket attack on Southwark on 22 January 1945.

Debuts

Ross Montague (2007) vs Nottingham Forest (H) – L 2-4
