Ollie Watkins has missed out on the August Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award to Preston North End's Daniel Johnson
Brentford striker Watkins - who signed a long-term contract during the month – scored four goals in six Sky Bet Championship appearances. He also contributed another assist and set up one for Marcus Forss in the Carabao Cup game against Cambridge United to be involved in all of Brentford’s goals this month.
Ollie scored Brentford’s winner as they beat Middlesbrough early in the month and then grabbed the equaliser against Hull City a week later, setting up the Carabao Cup goal after coming on as a substitute in between. He then scored two and was involved in the third – finished by Bryan Mbeumo – as The Bees beat Derby County last time out. The Derby game was also his 100th appearance for the Club.
The winners were judged by a panel consisting of Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
