Brentford midfield player Jan Žambůrek helped Czech Republic Under-19 to a draw yesterday. The 18-year-old – who signed a long-term Brentford contract last month – played 79 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Belgium. It was the second game in five days for Jan and his team mates after a 2-0 defeat to Switzerland last Thursday.

Czech Republic took an early led but found themselves a goal down by half time. They came back to score late in the second half and make it 2-2. Jan was on the pitch when all four goals were scored and earned his second Under-19 cap. He has played 38 games for his country overall, scoring four goals.

The games were preparation for Czech Republic’s qualification campaign for the 2020 European Under-19 Championships. They will play in the first qualification round against Norway, Azerbaijan and San Marino in October. The best teams will then move on to final qualifying in March 2020. Seven qualifiers will join hosts Northern Ireland in the event next summer.
