Jan Žambůrek earned his fourth cap at Under-19 level as the Czech Republic Under-19s took their tally to two wins, and ten goals, in four days. After a 6-0 win over San Marino on Wednesday, Jan and his teammates were straight on the front foot against Azerbaijan, scoring twice in the opening ten minutes through Filip Firbacher and Lukáš Červ. Jakub Zeronik scored a third shortly after the restart with Firbacher adding a fourth late on.

The Czech’s next test on Tuesday will be their toughest, as they complete their Under-19 European Championship First Round Qualifying campaign against Norway.

It wasn’t the same story for Patrik Gunnarsson as the previously unbeaten Iceland were hammered 5-0 by Sweden in Helsingborg. Patrik started for an Iceland side who conceded twice midway through the first-half and then right at the start of the second as the destination of the points was decided. The home side then added two more late on as they condemned Iceland to their first defeat in Group One.

There’s another tough test for Iceland on Tuesday as they host group leaders Ireland, knowing another defeat would leave them playing catchup for the rest of the qualifying campaign.
