Pontus Jansson withdraws from Sweden squad

Defender to remain at Jersey Road over international break

8 October 2019

Pontus Jansson has withdrawn from the Sweden squad for their upcoming European Championship Qualifiers against Malta and Spain.

The 28-year-old defender picked up a minor knock during Saturday’s 1-0 Sky Bet Championship defeat to Nottingham Forest and will now stay in West London for treatment over the international break.

Centre-back Jansson, who has 20 caps for his nation, has played every minute in the league for a Brentford team that has conceded just nine goals in 11 matches this term.

Sweden are currently second in Group F, a point clear of Romania in third with four matches remaining.
