Two Jaden Brissett goals and an own goal ensured that Neil MacFarlane's side would claim the win with Adam Liddle netting for the away side.

A competitive opening 20 minutes saw little by the way of clear-cut chances at Griffin Park with neither side able to gain a real foothold in the match.

The Bees’ first attempt of the evening came in the 13th minute when Jan Zamburek was found centrally before he turned well to drive at goal but was unable to keep his powerful effort on target as it went over Coniah Boyce-Clarke’s goal.

As for the away side, their first chance came when they almost capitalised on a weak Mads Bech Sorensen back pass as Conor Lawless managed to latch onto it, but for Patrik Gunnarsson, who rushed out of his goal to claim the ball at the forward’s feet.

Another good chance then fell for Neil MacFarlane’s side when Zamburek threaded an excellent ball in behind to meet the path of the onrushing Roerslev, and his cross took a deflection which took the ball just wide of goal as the away side cleared.

Another good chance then fell for The Bees when Zamburek was found in behind before he drove forward and played in Dru Yearwood, but his effort was well saved and put behind for a corner.

That spell of Brentford pressure then saw them gain the advantage as Brissett was found out on the right before good strength saw him hold off the defender before cutting inside and shooting powerfully into the net as the Bees took a lead into the break.

It would be Reading who looked the more likely after the break as they threatened on the counterattack, and they got their reward when the ball was played over the top into the path of Liddle, who lifted the ball over Gunnarsson.  The keeper did manage to push the ball away, but it was adjudged by the officials to have crossed the line therefore the goal stood.

Both sides continued to trade blows with Zamburek and Yearwood both having attempts go just wide of goal as The Bees looked for a winner whilst Reading continued to threaten on the break.

But that all-important goal for the home side came on 83 minutes when some good pressing from the front line saw them win the ball high and Matej Majka laid the ball across goal for Brissett to claim his second.

It turned out to be a quickfire double as the game was taken away from the visitors when Gustav Mogensen did well down the right before crossing low and Osho could only turn into his own goal as the score became 3-1 and Brentford B claimed the win.
