Marcus Forss scored his first professional hat-trick as AFC Wimbledon picked up a vital win on Saturday. The Brentford striker is on loan at the Sky Bet League One club for the season and has already made an impact with four goals in five league games. But he went even better on Saturday.

Marcus scored twice in the first 11 minutes as Wimbledon went 2-0 up in a bottom-of-the-table clash away to Southend United. The home side pulled one back, but Marcus completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the second half. Wimbledon added a fourth to seal the win in the later stages. The three points leaves them 21st in the table but they have now won three in a row and are looking up.

Marcus was the only Brentford player to get real game time out on loan this weekend. Emiliano Marcondes and FC Midtjylland were not in action due to the international fixtures while Ellery Balcombe is away with England Under-21 and his Viborg Fodsports Forening team did not have a game. Canice Carroll did not play as Carlisle United lost at home to Crewe Alexandra while Reece Cole was injured and did not feature as Partick Thistle beat Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup. They are now in the last eight of the competition.
Justin Shaibu did play for Boreham Wood on Saturday. The striker is on loan at the Vanarama National League Cup for the season and they won 2-0 away at league leaders FC Halifax Town. Justin came on for the final ten minutes with Boreham Wood 2-0 up and helped them see out the victory. Boreham Wood are now 11th in the table.
Meanwhile, Halil Dervişoğlu, who will join The Bees from Sparta Rotterdam in January, was also in action. Halil was away with Turkey Under-21 for a UEFA European Under-21 Championships qualification match. He started but could not prevent them slipping to a 3-0 loss.
