Gustav Mogensen played the full 90 minutes as Denmark's Under-19s began their two-game tour to Ireland with a 1-0 win over the hosts at The Sligo Showgrounds. The only goal of the game came in first-half injury-time and Gustav was heavily involved; he picked up a misplaced pass and squared for FC Kobenhavn's Ahmed Daghim to net. The two sides meet again at the same venue on Monday.
Also in action on Friday was Wales Under-19 winger Joe Adams. The Young Dragons took an 18th minute lead at Newport’s Dragon’s Park through Christian Norton. However, Austria scored three unanswered goals after the break, including two in injury-time, to win the first of the two games between the nations this week. They go again at the same venue on Monday.
Two of our young goalkeepers had a watching brief on Friday night. Ellery Balcombe remained on the bench as England’s Under-21s let a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 against their Slovenian counterparts while Simon Andersson watched on as Sweden’s Under-18s drew 1-1 in Iceland.
Both players will hope to be involved over the weekend as Sweden face Finland on Sunday while England host Austria at Stadium:MK in an Under-21 European Championship qualifier on Tuesday.
