Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has been named in the latest France Under-21 squad. France start their European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign with two games in the next few days. Head coach Sylvain Ripoll has included Bryan as Les Bleuets host Azerbaijan at Calais’ Stade de l'Épopée on Thursday 10 October, then travel to the MOL Arena in Dunajska Streda on Tuesday 15 October. Both fixtures get underway at 8pm UK time.

France are in Group Two of the qualification tournament. The group winners will qualify along with the best second-placed team in nine groups. Eight other runners-up will take part in Play-Off games. Following his maiden call-up by the nation in September, Bryan made an immediate impact by scoring on his first start, in a 3-1 victory over the Czech Republic. That was the second of two caps earned, after replacing Nantes midfielder Imran Louza during a 4-0 drubbing of Albania four days earlier.

The 20-year-old has been making his way through the French youth international system. He first played for France at Under-17 level, playing in a game against Italy. Last season he was part of the Under-20 group and made three further appearances for his country. He started all three games and helped his country stay unbeaten.
