Emiliano Marcondes played the full 90 minutes as FC Midtjylland crushed nearest challengers FC Kobenhaven 4-1 at home to move seven points clear at the top of the Danish Superliga. Sory Kaba netted twice, either side of an Evander strike, to give FCM a 3-0 lead shortly after half-time. Dame N’Doye pulled one back but any chance of a comeback was snuffed out by Erik Sviatchenko on the hour. The appearance was Emiliano’s eighth straight start since returning to Denmark with a trip to fifth-placed OB up after the international break.

In the Emirates FA Cup, Canice Carroll played the final six minutes as Carlisle United booked their spot in Round Two with a 4-1 victory over Dulwich Hamlet on Friday night. Marcus Forss wasn’t involved in AFC Wimbledon’s 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers while Jaden Brissett’s Maidenhead United saw hopes of an upset dashed by three late goals from League One side Rotherham United; Brissett coming off the bench for the final 11 minutes of the 3-1 defeat.

Elsewhere, Reece Cole played 70 minutes as ten-man Partick Thistle secured a huge three points at home to Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship. Despite seeing Stuart Bannigan dismissed early in the second-half, Shea Gordon put Partick ahead on the hour. Morton levelled two minutes later through Scott Baird but Gordon grabbed his second shortly after. The win brings Partick back to within two points of safety ahead of next Saturday’s Scottish Challenge Cup Quarter-Final trip to Stenhousemuir.

Halil Dervişoğlu came off the bench for Sparta Rotterdam during their 2-1 defeat on the road at Heerenveen. Lars Veldwijk gave Sparta a first-half lead but two goals in six minutes after the break from Chidera Ejuke turned the game around. After a third defeat in four, Sparta are now 12th with a home game against Vitesse up after the break.

In Ellery Balcombe’s absence through suspension, Viborg FF moved back to the top of the NordicBet Liga with a 2-1 victory at home to Næstved while Boreham Wood and Justin Shiabu were without a fixture. VFF return in a fortnight’s time with a trip to Vendsyssel while The Wood host Jaden Brissett’s Maidenhead United in the National League next Saturday.
