After a goal and an assist against Ukraine on Wednesday, Joe Adams started again as Wales welcomed Russia to the Cardiff International Sports Campus. Kirill Kosarev gave the Russians a first-half advantage, but Wales turned the game round after the break with a pair of Neco Williams penalties. However, Danila Prokhin netted an 85th minute leveller to leave Group I wide open ahead of Tuesday’s final round of games. Wales will top the group with victory over Kosovo while defeat, and a positive result in the game between Poland and Russia, would see Wales sweating on being the best third-placed team.

In Group H, Gustav Mogensen played 67 minutes as Denmark registered their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Faroe Islands. Ben Slimane scored twice in the second-half to settle matters at the Køge Stadion. The cap was Gustav’s eighth at Under-19 level. Denmark’s campaign ends on Tuesday with a game against Group leaders France with only victory likely to be enough to see them progress.

Simon Andersson also played on Saturday as Sweden swept aside Estonia 4-0 at Jernvallen. Fredrik Hammar was suspended following his red card on Wednesday. Benjamin Nygren netted twice with a Ralf-Sander Suvinõmm own-goal and Rami Hajal completing the scoring. The cap was Simon’s sixth at Under-19 level. Their campaign finishes on Tuesday with a crunch clash against Ukraine in Gävle.
