In Soweto, Kamohelo Mokotjo played the full 90 minutes as South Africa picked up their first points in Group C with a 1-0 win over Sudan. The only goal of the game came in first-half injury-time, Lebogang Phiri lashing home a half-cleared cross from the edge of the box. The cap was Kamohelo’s 21st for his nation, and 15th while a Brentford player. A third of the way through qualifying, South Africa are currently second in Group C with three points from two games.

Julian Jeanvier also featured on Sunday, coming off the bench early on to help Guinea to a 2-0 win over Namibia in Conakry. Julian was introduced after 28 minutes with Syli Nationale taking the lead just before the break through Issiaga Sylla. The points were wrapped up 20 minutes from time thanks to José Kanté’s strike. The cap was Julian’s fourth for his nation as they drew level with Mali at the top of Group A after two games.
