Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has been named in the England Under-21 squad. The Young Lions have two games in the upcoming international window, one competitive and one friendly and have included Ellery in the squad. The 19-year-old will link up with the squad this weekend ahead of the two fixtures.

England have made a good start on the road to the championships, winning their first three matches. They top Group Three of the qualification tournament ahead of a game away to Albania next Friday. The group winners will qualify for the tournament along with the best second-placed team in nine groups. Eight other runners-up will take part in Play-Off games. After that, England will travel to Netherlands for a friendly on Tuesday 19 November.

This is the latest call-up for Ellery, who has progressed through the England ranks and signed a long-term contract at Brentford last year. He made his England Under-20 debut when he was just 17 and has played 18 games for his country in total at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level. He has been involved in three Under-21 squads this year without getting on the pitch but has been first choice with Viborg Fodsports Forening, or Viborg F.F. for short, where he is on loan for the season.
