A group of Scandinavian supporters were in West London last week to present an annual award. The Brentford FC Supporters Club of Norway named Saïd Benrahma as their Player of the Season for the 2018/19 campaign. Saïd arrived at Brentford in the summer and in his first season in English football he scored 11 goals in 45 games in all competitions. He also contributed 14 assists in the Sky Bet Championship, the most in the division.
Saïd was not in the country when the Norwegian fans visited as he missed the end of the season with a foot injury and is recuperating. As such, they could not present the award to him. The fans did, however, meet Head Coach Thomas Frank and got to watch training ahead of the win over Preston North End.
Saïd follows in the footsteps of Daniel Bentley, who took the award last year, as well as Ryan Woods, Clayton Donaldson and Adam Forshaw in winning the Norwegian supporters’ prize. He played 38 games in the Championship this season and scored ten goals. This included a hat-trick against Hull City and a memorable goal in the West London Derby against Queens Park Rangers.
