Brentford B ended their 2018/19 campaign with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City's Elite Development Squad.
Spencer Keller, Adrian Bernabe and Adam Aziz scored three in 34 minutes, before Cole Dasilva scored a response on the day of his 20th birthday.
For Head Coach Lars Friis, it was a tough match to sign off his time at Brentford. He was able to bring Reece Cole and Canice Carroll back into the lineup after their loan spells in Sky Bet League Two. New signing Nick Tsaroulla managed a second-half debut from the bench as neither side managed another goal in the final period.
The home side were ahead inside the opening three minutes. A low cross was turned in by Keller in front of goalkeeper Patrik Gunnarsson.
A second came after 20 minutes, this time a superb solo effort from Bernabe. He darted through several challenges on his way into the box before shooting low into the corner.
After 34 minutes, City had a third. With The Bees backing off, Aziz had all the time he needed to dart into the box and then fire past Gunnarsson.
Before the interval, Dasilva netted his seventh goal of the season. A great goal to finish the season, he picked his spot from distance and lobbed it over the keeper to hand Brentford a lifeline in the second 45.
After the break, former City man Joe Hardy was handed the chance to score from the penalty spot. Drilling it low, Hardy saw goalkeeper Tom Scott get across and parry it away from danger.
