Under former Brentford manager Wally Downes, The Dons put together a remarkable run of form to preserve their Sky Bet League One status on the final day of the season. Marooned at one stage ten points from safety, a run of just one loss in 12 games ensured a fourth successive season in the third tier.
It’s just under two years since we last met The Dons in South London; Romaine Sawyers, Ollie Watkins, and Justin Shaibu getting the goals in a 3-1 EFL Cup First Round victory back in August 2017.
The game is our second confirmed pre-season friendly following last week’s announcement that Premier League side AFC Bournemouth will be heading to Griffin Park on Saturday 27 July.
The 2019/20 Championship season will start on the weekend of Saturday 3 August. Fixtures will be released on Thursday 20 June. Brentford are currently planning for a sixth season in the second tier and will released details on friendlies when final agreements have been reached. It is currently planned that there will be further friendlies away from home on Tuesday 16 July and Saturday 20 July. These will be announced as soon as possible.
