Nikolaj Kirk leaves Brentford for Norway

Henning Berg brings in FCM utility man

31 March 2019

Brentford B defender Nikolaj Kirk has ended his loan spell with the Club. Instead of returning to FC Midtjylland, Kirk will immediately join Norwegian side Stabaek Fotball on loan.

Managed by former Blackburn Rovers and Manchester United defender Henning Berg, Stabaek's season begins tomorrow night (1 April) at home to Lillestrom SK.

Kirk arrived at Brentford in the summer of 2017, settling in as a midfielder to Kevin O'Connor's system. 71 appearances later, Kirk is an established utility player in Lars Friis' squad, capable of playing anywhere across the back line and central midfield.

He made his First Team debut this season against Swansea City in the FA Cup Fifth Round. Kirk came on as a 69th-minute substitute for Sergi Canos.

FC Midtjylland's Svend Graversen said: "Nikolaj has developed very quickly at Brentford FC, and he has, among other things, constantly trained with their First Team recently. It now gives him the opportunity for a change, which will give him exciting new perspectives."

Kirk's last game for The Bees was a 1-0 defeat to Notre Dame University on 17 March.
