Robert’s life was tragically cut short on 12 November 2018, when he suffered a fatal cardiomyopathy episode, at only 28 years of age. As Technical Director, Robert played a guiding role in setting up the B Team model back in 2016.

In less than three years, a dozen players have gone on to make a competitive debut in our First-Team, the most recent of which was Icelandic goalkeeper Patrik Gunnarsson. The 18-year-old was pressed into action away at Middlesbrough earlier this month following an injury to Daniel Bentley.

Alongside another B Team graduate, Mads Bech Sorensen, who made his Sky Bet Championship debut that afternoon, Patrik helped keep Boro at bay in the closing stages to help the team record a first win on Teesside in 81 years.

With the debut board now proudly displaying Robert's name, here's the story of Patrik's first taste of professional football in England.
