Brentford B narrowly beat New York City FC U19s 2-1 at Jersey Road on Sunday afternoon.
Jarvis Edobor, who can also play for Maidstone, started his first game back since the Barnet Semi-Final. Jaden Brissett lined up in the back four for the first time, with a trialist at the other centre-back position.
Bees Head Coach Lars Friis picked two first team players in Chiedozie Ogbene and Lewis Macleod, who both got an hour in the game.
The visitors enjoyed early spells of possession and created two great goal scoring opportunities inside the first the minutes but none rattled the net.
Brentford B responded in style after handling the early pressure by the visitors, Gustav Mogensen dribbled past two of his opponents and whipped in a low driven cross from the right-hand-side. It picked out Lewis Macleod who found the top left hand corner from 16 yards to put the Bees into the lead.
Ten minutes later, Majka laid it back to Henrik Johansson who lobbed it over the keeper from a long way to double the Bees advantage with half an hour played.
NYC had two great chances to pull one back before the first half ended but both efforts were saved by Simon Andersson.
The second half started very quietly with both teams sharing possession. Brentford squandered a great opportunity to make it three when the visitor’s keeper fluffed his lines and Majka found himself 1v1 with the keeper but the effort was blocked by a City defender.
The visitors pulled one back with fifteen minutes to go as Brissett conceded a penalty and the number seven converted it into the bottom right-hand corner.
The young Bronx Blues had chances to equalise at the end but the two first half goals from the hosts were enough to secure the win.
