Big defeat for Sweden Under-18s

A day to forget for captain Fredrik Hammar

7 June 2019

It was a bad day for Sweden’s Under-18 side yesterday as they were beaten 6-0 by Hungary. Brentford B midfield player Fredrik Hammar captained his team and played the full 90 minutes but could not prevent the defeat and picked up a booking. Goalkeeper Simon Andersson, his Brentford B teammate, was spared a little as he was not selected for the game.

Hungary scored three times in 20 minutes in the first half and added three more early in the second to hold a 6-0 lead at the hour mark. Sweden did manage to prevent further damage but could not get a goal as consolation. Match highlights can be seen here.

Czech Republic Under-18 were also in action yesterday, beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1. Brentford B midfield player Jan Žambůrek was not involved in the game.
