Griffin Park played host to a special challenge last month involving Hounslow Police. Officers from Emergency Response Team C and the Metropolitan Police Public Order and Football Unit took part in a physical challenge of sitting on every seat at Griffin Park, home to Brentford Football Club. The officers, in full public order kit, sat on every seats within the 8,000 seated stadium on a warm sunny day in May.
The inspiration came from former footballers Alan Shearer and Robbie Savage completing the challenge for Sports Relief at Wembley Stadium in 2014. They were also doing it for colleague Jade Goffin.
Jade is an officer in the Metropolitan Police, covering the West Area of London. She is 31 years old and has a six-year old daughter. Royal Marsden has given her a year to live after she was diagnosed with breast cancer and then last year she was diagnosed with Stage Four Brain Mets with a total of seven tumours.
Jade has been very keen to tell her story about her rare form of cancer. Her friends, colleagues and generous members of the public, have been fund raising to help Jade to prolong her life and receive treatment in the USA. More information can be seen here.
