Bees to play Norwich behind closed doors

Pre-season game in July agreed

15 June 2019

Brentford’s pre-season friendly schedule will include a game against Norwich City. The Bees will face the newly promoted side, who won the Sky Bet Championship last season, in a game at Norwich’s training ground. The match will be played on Wednesday 24 July but will be behind closed doors and no supporters will be able to watch.

The match is the latest to be confirmed in Brentford’s pre-season schedule. The Bees will play away to AFC Wimbledon on Friday 5 July before heading to Austria, close to the German border, for a training camp from 6 to 13 July. The intention is that there will be a game on Saturday 13 July in either Austria or Germany, but this is not yet confirmed.

Brentford will play Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday 20 July and then head to Norwich for the behind closed doors friendly. It will be the third meeting in a short period between the teams as Norwich won 1-0 at Carrow Road before a 1-1 draw at Griffin Park during the recently finished Championship season. Pre-season will end with a game at home against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 27 July.

The 2019/20 Championship season will start on the weekend of Saturday 3 August. Fixtures will be released this Thursday, 20 June, and pre-season training will start at the end of the month. Get ready for our final campaign at Griffin Park by becoming a 2019/20 Season Ticket Holder.
