New goalkeeper Nathan Sheppard spoke to us from the B Team dressing room after signing a one-year contact with The Bees. He joined Neil MacFarlane's squad for the first day of pre-season on Friday afternoon.
Nathan said: "I'm over the moon, I can't wait now to get started, get going and get ready for the season. Hopefully it's a good one."
The 18-year-old was on trial with The Bees at the end of last season, so knows what the team is all about.
"The boys here were lovely, all the staff too, they just made me feel so welcome. It's like a family and it takes the pressure off you when you're playing. I learned a lot at Swansea, but it's one of those things. You move on and the hope is to do even better here."
Seeing goalkeeper Patrik Gunnarsson make his Brentford debut last season aged 18, Nathan is keen to see where his time at the Club takes him.
"Playing for the First Team, that's the goal. There's a clear pathway here for all the players so hopefully I can do the same as some of the others last season. I need to get more games and more minutes in pre-season and then get a feel for how the season's going. There's a lot of good goalkeepers here, we'll learn off each other and make each other better and then progress into the First Team.
"There were some great challenges for the team last year, I would presume it will be the same again this year. It takes you to the next level and hopefully I can be a part of some of those games."
