Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter used the game to give all 23 members of his squad a run out ahead of their opening game against the Ivory Coast on 24 June. Thulani Serero opted to pass when a shot might have been a better option in the first-half's best opening. Played in intense heat, the game lacked clear goalscoring chances after the break as it ended goalless.
South Africa have another warm-up game this week when they take on Angola in Cairo ahead of the tournement proper. Along with the Ivory Coast, Namibia and Morocco lie in wait for Bafana Bafana in Group D
